OLYMPIA, Wash. –
Libby Raymond (Sr., F) from The Evergreen State College women's soccer team is the Evergreen Featured Athlete of the Week for February 23, 2026. Prior to joining the Geoducks, Burton played soccer at Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas.
Like many other students at Evergreen, Raymond has been involved in a wide range of activities. She has competed on the Evergreen women's soccer team, studied abroad in Taiwan, contributed to Evergreen's social media and marketing, and participated in martial arts. She's focused on graphic design and media in her academic efforts.
During four seasons from 2022 through 2025 with the Geoducks in women's soccer, Raymond played in a total of 34 games. She competed in 13 games this past season to set a career high.

A highlight for Raymond as an Evergreen student was when she spent three weeks in the summer of 2024 studying in Taiwan. She participated through an Individual Learning Contract.
"Initially it was a full program, but due to a lack of student interest it was made into an ILC," Raymond explained. "It led to a unique and personal experience because it was just me, one other student, and my professor, Lin Crowley. My most memorable experiences were talking to the incredibly kind and friendly locals as well as exploring the Alishan Mountains."
While in Taiwan, Raymond's studies included working with the language and learning about the local history.
"In Taiwan, I practiced my Chinese and learned new vocabulary relating to traveling and making transactions," Raymond said. "I also visited museums, temples, parks, and historical sites such as the National Palace Museum and Buddha Memorial. I learned about Taiwan's history, environment, and culture, and how it has been influenced by other cultures throughout the centuries."
While in the United States, she has also learned about martial arts and has helped create promotional materials for use on social media. Her extensive areas of interest have kept her involved on campus.
"Currently, I am a student worker for Evergreen's social media marking team," Raymond commented. "I've helped with filming and editing several videos on Instagram, including a blog of our women's soccer team's camping trip. I've also taken several art and media related classes about animation, video production, and design."

Several factors led to Raymond arriving at Evergreen as a student and an athlete.
"I knew that I wanted to go out of state to a liberal arts college," Raymond said. "When I first learned about Evergreen, I was intrigued by the unique curriculum and thought it could be a good fit for me. I learned there was a soccer team … I went to tour the school and practiced with the team. I loved the campus and felt welcomed by the team environment, so I decided Evergreen was the place for me."
As a member of the women's soccer team, Raymond brought some important skills both on and off the field.
"My strengths are my commitment to the team, my work ethic, and my desire to improve," she noted. "I've played wing on either side, and occasionally center forward."
In addition to bringing her own attributes, Raymond has gained a lot from her experiences as a soccer player and a Geoduck.
"I like that soccer pushes me to become not just a better player, but a better person," Raymond affirmed. "Even though our team is competitive, it's still a fun and supportive environment.
"I love getting to spend time with the team on and off the field," she added. "We've built a unique environment that you can't find anywhere else!"
Raymond will soon complete her undergraduate degree at Evergreen and remain enrolled to extend her education and playing career. "I plan on re-enrolling at Evergreen for one more quarter to play soccer and take a language. After that, I plan on finding work in Washington State."
