LA GRANDE, Ore. – DeAndre Wright (Fr.) set school records in the men's triple jump and the 100-meter dash, and
Haleigh Hanson (So.) set a personal record by almost two meters in the women's discus throw, to lead The Evergreen State College on Saturday, May 9 during the second day of the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. The CCC Championships were hosted by Eastern Oregon University at Banner Bank Track.
Wright placed seventh in both the men's triple jump and the 100-meter dash. He began the triple jump by winning the first flight with a distance of 13.39 meters (43' 11.25") on his third attempt for a temporary change to the school record. On his last attempt in the finals, Wright registered a new school record when he moved into seventh place in the event by covering 13.72 meters (45' 0.25").
Jarvae Lindsay (Fr.) of Evergreen joined Wright in the men's triple jump. Lindsay registered a top mark of 12.80 meters (42' 0"), as he finished close to his career-best distance of 12.87 meters (42' 2.75").
In the 100-meter dash, Wright won the second heat and broke his own Evergreen school record with a time of 10.77 seconds on his way to taking seventh place. His previous school record was 10.97 seconds at the Ed Boitano Invitational earlier this year.

Hanson earned fifth place in the women's discus throw with a top distance of 38.05 meters (124' 10") to set a personal record. Her previous top throw went 36.13 meters (118' 7"). Hanson produced her best mark of Saturday's CCC competition on her first throw. She won the first flight.
"DeAndre, the phenomenal freshman!" commented Evergreen Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach
Katie Burnett. "School records in both the triple jump and 100 meters to claim seventh in the conference in both is outstanding. His jump series was so impressive, as three of his six jumps bettered the previous school record held by Anthony Johnson from 2016.
"Haleigh followed with a massive opening throw in the discus to PR by nearly 2 meters!" Burnett added. "That mark would carry her into finals and ultimately lead to her 5th place finish."
Austin Major (Jr.) set a personal record in the men's 400-meter hurdles as he achieved a time of 1:00.69. He lowered his top time by 0.14 from 1:00.83.
Dani Buttrell (So.), who placed third in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday to earn All-Conference recognition, set a personal record in the women's 5,000-meter run on Saturday. Her time in the 5,000 was 19:28.80, just faster than her previous top time of 19:28.81.
Also on Saturday,
Nathaniel Sanchez (Fr.) was timed at 2:03.91 in the men's 800-meter run.
Jackson Rye (Jr.) claimed a time of 16:08.08 in the men's 5,000-meter run.
Madison Palek (So.) took first place in the 5,000-meter race walk for the Geoducks on Friday to join Buttrell with All-Conference honors. Palek's winning time was 26:43.86. She qualified for the NAIA Championships earlier this season in the race walk with a personal record time of 24:53.88.
Evergreen took 11th place in the women's team standings at the CCC Championships. The University of British Columbia (Canada) won the women's team title. The Geoducks placed 12th in the men's team standings. Eastern Oregon won the men's team championship.
The 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held from Wednesday, May 20 through Friday, May 22 in Ashville, North Carolina.
