Jordan Dam scored a career-high 29 points in a losing cause as Northwest Christian defeated The Evergreen State College, 86-68, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball game played Friday night at Morse Event Center.
The Geoducks suffered their ninth consecutive loss and are now 3-14 overall and 0-10 in the conference. Northwest Christian improved its season record to 13-6 and is now 6-4 in the CCC.
Dam was 11-for-19 from the field, 4-for-8 from beyond the three-point line and added three free throws for his game-high 29 points. He also led all players with nine rebounds. The senior forward scored just four points on five shots in the opening half before breaking loose with 25 points in the final 20 minutes.
Brock Otis added 11 points, nine in the first half, for the Geoducks, who shot 41 percent (28-for-68) from the floor, including 25 percent (8-for-32) from beyond the three-point line.
Javonte Byrd led four NCU players in double figures with 16 points, followed by Travis Pacos with 15, Jay Mayernick with 13 and Michael Loomis with 11. The Beacons finished with 55 percent accuracy (32-for-58) from the field, including an impressive 50 percent (12-for-24) from long range. The hosts also enjoyed a 43-29 advantage in rebounds with Mayernick and Loomis both grabbing seven.
NCU scored the first eight points and never trailed in the game, though the Geoducks twice pulled within two points about eight minutes into the game. The Beacons later led by 21 points before Evergreen rallied to within 13 points, but that was as close as it got.
Evergreen returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday when it plays the Corban Warriors in Salem.
