COMING UP: After a long bus ride to Montana on Thursday, The Evergreen State College (2-7-0 overall, 2-3-0 CCC) returns to Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action on Friday against Carroll College (8-4-1, 5-1-1 CCC) in Helena and on Saturday versus University of Great Falls (4-3-3, 1-3-2) in Great Falls. Kickoff for both contests is slated for 1:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: Evergreen is still in the running for one of eight conference postseason tournament berths (though it is still pretty early to discuss that) after dispatching Oregon Tech, 1-0, in the second minute of overtime last Saturday at Geoduck Pitch. Following that match the Geoducks are 2-3-0 in conference play, good for eighth place with six matches remaining. What bodes well for the Geoducks is that their final four conference counters are at home. The Geoducks are 2-7-0 overall and while they have gone scoreless in five matches this season, the team has scored in three of its five CCC contests. Their only conference shutouts have come to Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon, the two teams tied for third place and just one point out of the league lead. Goal scorers for Evergreen this season include
Stephanie Yoder with two and
Molly Celler,
Ava Mickola and
Haleigh Ryneski with one apiece. Junior transfer
Alison Mackey was in goal against Oregon Tech and recorded the shutout, Evergreen's first of the campaign.
ABOUT CARROLL: The Saints are tied with Rocky Mountain College atop the conference standings, both with 16 points on 5-1-1 records (three points for a win, one point for a tie, zero points for a loss). Their loss came to College of Idaho (1-0) and their tie was to Great Falls (0-0). Both of those matches were at home, and in fact the Evergreen contest marks the fifth of sixth consecutive home games for Carroll. The Saints have scored 18 goals compared to eight for their opponents. Lexi Pyette leads the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists and Michaela Kueffler has nine points on four goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Jamie Carter has been outstanding with a 0.53 goals against average and seven shutouts. Carroll, in its first season in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, received two first-place votes in the CCC preseason poll and was picked to finish third in the league standings.
ABOUT GREAT FALLS: The Geoducks have a recent history with this team, having lost to the Argonauts by a 1-0 score on Sept. 5 at Geoduck Pitch. Katie Bennett scored the game's only goal in the sixth minute and the visitors made it stand up the rest of the way. Great Falls had the run of play in the first half but the second half was more evenly played. The two squads faced each other in Great Falls on Sept. 1, 2014, and it was the same result as the Argos scored in the 10th minute of a 1-0 win. The Argos have scored 15 goals and allowed 14 so far this season and are 1-2-2 in their last five matches. Alejandra Guzman and Sarah Howell share team-high scoring honors with seven points each, Guzman from three goals and one assist and Howell from two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Kyra Dorvall has a 1.34 goals against average and two shutouts, including the early-season blanking of the Geoducks. In the preseason poll the Argos were picked to finish eighth and the Geoducks ninth. Currently, Great Falls is in seventh place while Evergreen is in eighth.
LAST WEEK: After losing 5-0 to visiting Southern Oregon on Saturday, the Geoducks picked up the aforementioned 1-0 overtime victory over Oregon Tech.
Alison Mackey was strong in goal with nine saves for Evergreen and junior midfielder
Molly Celler was the goal-scoring hero, beating the OIT goalkeeper to a pass from
Ava Mickola and firing into the empty net from a tight angle on the right wing.
