Box Score CARROLL, Mont. – Carroll College broke a scoreless deadlock with two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to beat The Evergreen State College, 2-0, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match played here Friday afternoon.
The Saints (9-4-1 overall, 6-1-1 CCC) moved into the top spot in the conference by outshooting the visiting Geoducks (2-8-0, 2-4-0), 14-2, and preventing the visitors from even getting a shot until nearly 65 minutes had elapsed.
Ylena Gazdik scored the game's initial goal, and her first of the season, just 59 seconds into the second half, with the assist going to Cassidy Hammons. Lexi Pyette scored an unassisted goal, her team-best fifth of the season, at 54:49.
Alison Mackey played all 90 minutes in goal for the Geoducks, recording eight saves and benefitting from her defense clearing another ball off of the line.
Evergreen's only shot on goal came from
Haleigh Ryneski with about three minutes remaining, forcing a save from Carroll reserve keeper Devan Murfitt.
The Geoducks return to conference action at 1:30 p.m. Saturday when they play at the University of Great Falls.
