Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – Brock Otis scored 23 points and Danny Powell added 22 points and 10 rebounds Friday afternoon but it wasn't enough to prevent The Evergreen State College from dropping a 100-89 decision to Montana-Western in the men's portion of the Clearwater River Casino and Lodge Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State College.

Though the Geoducks finished one rebound behind UMW (36-35) and shot a respectable 44 percent from the floor (30-for-68), they took nearly one half of their shots from beyond the three-point line and made just 33 percent of those (11-for-33).

The teams battled on even terms for much of the first half. The Geoducks took their largest lead of the game at 10-6 on Powell's three-point basket a little less than four minutes into the game, and an Alix Hernandez basket put them up, 29-28, with 7:24 remaining. That was the last time that Evergreen led.

Trailing by as many as 12 points in the early stage of the second half, the Geoducks rallied to within four points, 65-61, on a three-pointer by Brock Otis with 12:20 to play. Montana-Western (1-3) eventually regained a double-digit lead at 79-69 with 5:59 to play, and later led by 14 points before settling for the 11-point victory.

Joining Otis and Powell in double figures for the Geoducks were Frankie Johnson with 17 points and Hernandez with 16. Hernandez led all players with eight assists and Jarrick Mitchell added six more for the Geoducks.

Otis finished 8-for-11 from the field, including 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point line, and he hit all three of his free throws in getting his 23 points. Evergreen shot 18-for-19 as a team from the free throw line.

Montana-Western got 22 points and nine rebounds from Demitrius Balark and 21 points from Shyke Smalls.

Evergreen is back in action at 7 p.m. tomorrow when it faces tournament host Lewis-Clark State in the tournament's final game.
