Box Score SALEM, Ore. – Corban scored the only goal of the match 3:55 into the first overtime to defeat The Evergreen State College, 1-0, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match at Willamette University's Sparks Field.
The season comes to an end for the Geoducks (3-8-3 overall, 1-7-3 CCC), while Corban (12-6-0 overall, 8-3-0 CCC) enters next weekend's conference postseason tournament as the No. 3 seed.
Evergreen played on even terms with the host Warriors for the entire first half and through the opening minutes of the second period. In fact, the Geoducks had six first half shots and forced one save from Corban keeper Sheyenne Brusven. On the other end of the field, Evergreen senior
Kayla Baskett didn't have to make a save as the Geoducks limited Corban to seven shots, none on frame.
The momentum changed 31:20 from the end when Evergreen went a player down due to a red card. The defense showed a great deal of resolve as the Warriors got off 13 shots during the second half and into overtime. In the end, though, Corban got the game winner when Randi Donahue crossed the ball in from the right wing to Sadee Kallis, who touched the ball into the net.
Senior goalkeeper
Alison Mackey, who replaced Baskett at the halftime break, came up with several outstanding saves when her team needed her most. The biggest of those saves came inside the final 30 seconds of regulation when she dove to her right to save a shot by Corban's Ali Oatridge.
While Corban had a 20-9 advantage in shots, the Geoducks took the only two corner kicks of the match. Both Mackey and Brusven finished with three saves.
