KIRKLAND – For the second consecutive night, The Evergreen State College was unable to stay with a NAIA Division I national power as the Great Falls Argonauts took an 87-57 victory over the Geoducks at the Adidas Northwest Classic hosted by Northwest University.

The Argonauts (7-0) have advanced to two consecutive NAIA Division I national tournament quarterfinal games, and their experience combined with the advantage of having played six previous contests this season was too much for the Geoducks (2-0).

After an evenly matched first quarter that saw Evergreen nearly match Great Falls, trailing just 20-16 at the break, the Argos broke the game open by outscoring the Geoducks, 24-10, in the second quarter. They expanded their 44-26 halftime lead to 68-39 by the end of the third quarter and cruised in from there.

Great Falls shot 47 percent from the field and grabbed 49 rebounds to 35 for the Geoducks, who ended up shooting 36 percent from the floor.

Asiyah Davis shot 3-for-4 from three-point range in scoring 15 points to lead Evergreen, which also got 13 points from Autumn Moorcroft and 12 from Gabi Fenumiai. The rebounding effort was led by Fenumiai and Kylie Gorton with five apiece, while Jones contributed a team-best three assists.

The Geoducks hurt themselves by turning the ball over 20 times and shooting just 13-for-27 from the free throw line.

Stephanie McDonagh scored 24 points and Nneka Nnadi added 14 points to lead the Argos.

Evergreen returns to action on Nov. 19 when non-conference foe Lewis & Clark College visits Costantino Recreation Center for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
