Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Evergreen State College had a shooting percentage matching the cold weather outside in falling to the host Oregon Tech Lady Owls, 65-40, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball game played Sunday afternoon at Danny Miles Court.
The Geoducks (3-8 overall, 2-3 CCC) shot just 29 percent from the field (14-for-49), including an ice-cold 1-for-12 from three-point range, and they hit 50 percent of their free throws (11-for-22). Additionally, the Geoducks turned the ball over 20 times, leading to 23 Oregon Tech points.
Autumn Moorcroft scored 11 points and
Imani Dunn grabbed nine rebounds to lead Evergreen, while Ashleigh Vandenbrink tallied 12 points to lead Oregon Tech (10-4, 3-1).
The game was close through the first quarter with Evergreen taking its only lead of the game, 8-7, on Moorcroft's jumper with 17 seconds left in the period. The Lady Owls got the lead back seven seconds later and they scored the first eight points of the second quarter to open a 17-8 lead. Evergreen missed a three-pointer and turned the ball over three straight times during Oregon Tech's run.
That early second quarter run led the hosts to a 22-11 advantage in the period, and they expanded the margin to take a 53-27 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
In addition to her 11 points, Moorcroft pulled down six rebounds, while
Gabi Fenumiai scored 10 points and also grabbed six rebounds for the Geoducks.
Joining Vandenbrink in double figures for the Lady Owls were Baylee Toney with 11 points and Morgan Roberts-Ili with 10. Roberts-Ili led her team with seven rebounds as the teams both pulled down a total of 42 boards. Oregon Tech shot 39 percent from the field (27-for-69) and 20 percent from three-point range (4-for-20).
Evergreen returns to action on Dec. 30 when College of Idaho visits Costantino Recreation Center for another conference contest.
