COMING UP:Â The Evergreen State College (0-3-1) kicks off its 11-game Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule this weekend with a pair of home contests, both starting at 1 p.m. at Geoduck Pitch. The Geoducks host the Corban University Warriors (3-3-0) on Friday, and the following day they face the Northwest Christian University Beacons (0-2-0).

ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: The youthful Geoducks – the roster includes one senior, a trio of juniors and 16 sophomore and freshmen combined – just wrapped up a four-game non-conference slate that included contests against the top three teams in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference. Playing the cream of the NWC crop should help prepare Evergreen for a difficult run through the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Evergreen's defense held up pretty well in pre-conference play, giving up just seven goals. Freshman goalkeeperÂ
Rachel McClure has compiled a 1.10 goals against average, while junior
Emily Sorenson has a 2.67 goals against average. The back four of sophomoresÂ
Lexi Asher,Â
Lexi Leohner andÂ
Melyssa Nocis and freshmanÂ
Mady Dillman have been solid in the early going. Senior midfielderÂ
Haleigh Ryneski continues her outstanding play in supporting the defense and getting the ball into the attacking third of the field, and junior midfielder
Ana Vigil has worked non-stop in front of the back row. Sophomore midfielderÂ
Delaney Rice has the team's lone goal and leads the team with 11 shots, followed by junior forwardÂ
Hunter Thomson Terrel with 10 shots. It's interesting to note that the Geoducks have put 21 of their 41 total shot attempts on goal, an excellent accuracy rate.
ABOUT CORBAN:Â The Warriors, 3-3-0 during the pre-conference run up, have scored nine goals while allowing seven. Annouschka Kordom, a sophomore forward, leads the team with four goals while taking only eight shots. Senior forward Holly Moorman leads the team with 21 shots and has scored two goals. Senior defender Marissa Telarroja is the assist lead with two, while senior Sheyenne Brusven has compiled a 1.17 goals against average while being the only Corban goalkeeper to see playing time this season.
RECENT RESULTS IN THE SERIES: The Warriors have won eight straight and nine of the last 10 in the series between the two clubs, including a 1-0 overtime decision in Salem last year. Evergreen's only win over the last 10 came in 2008 by a 1-0 score in Olympia.
ABOUT NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN:Â The Beacons, who play nationally ranked Northwest University on Friday afternoon prior to playing the Geoducks, come north from Oregon having lost their only two matches this season. They have scored one goal while allowing four.
RECENT RESULTS IN THE SERIES:Â Last year in Springfield, Ore., Northwest Christian picked up their second straight win in the series with a 2-1 victory. Prior to that, the Geoducks had recorded 3-0 wins over the Beacons in both 2014 and 2013. Over the last 10 meetings between the teams NCU has won six and Evergreen four.
CCC PRESEASON POLL: The 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer preseason coaches poll has been released, and The Evergreen State College looks to prove the coaches wrong. In the poll of the 12 conference head coaches, the Geoducks finished with the fewest number of votes in the poll, which was topped by two-time defending regular season champion Carroll College. For what it's worth, Corban received a first-place vote and finished fourth in the poll, while Northwest Christian ended up eighth.
PACIFIC LUTHERAN 2, EVERGREEN 0: The Geoducks battled for 90 minutes and put six shots on target but could not score last Friday night in dropping a 2-0 non-conference match to the host Pacific Lutheran Lutes at East Field.
PUGET SOUND 3, EVERGREEN 0:Â The Loggers scored once in the first half and added two more in the final 45 minutes to salt away the win over the visiting Geoducks.
