COMING UP: The Evergreen State College (0-1-1) continues its non-conference schedule with a pair of games against NCAA Division III Northwest Conference members. The Geoducks travel to Parkland on Friday to face the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes, with kickoff slated for 5:30 p.m., and then go back north to Tacoma on Sunday for a contest against the University of Puget Sound Loggers, with that game starting at noon.
FOLLOW THE GEODUCKS: Evergreen women's soccer fans can follow their Geoducks via live stats and video stream this weekend by going to

RECENT ACTION: The contests against Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound continues a series of early season clashes against Northwest Conference programs. In late August, the Geoducks played a scrimmage against Willamette University in Salem, and last week they officially opened their campaign with a 1-1 double overtime tie against Pacific and a 1-0 loss to Linfield, both at Geoduck Pitch. (More on those matches later.)
ABOUT PACIFIC LUTHERAN: The Lutes won the 2016 Northwest Conference title, ending a 14-year run atop that conference by the Puget Sound Loggers. Pacific Lutheran is 1-1 this season after a long road trip to the east coast, winning 3-0 at Franklin & Marshall and losing 1-0 to NCAA Division III national runner-up Messiah. Last season, the Lutes finished 16-1-4 overall, the only defeat coming in the first round of the national playoffs.
ABOUT PUGET SOUND: One of the Northwest's premier small college programs, the University of Puget Sound had won 14 straight Northwest Conference women's soccer titles before finishing second in the conference standings last year. This season, the Loggers are 1-1 after a California road trip that included a 2-0 loss to Pomona-Pitzer and a 2-0 win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, a national tournament team last year.
ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: The youthful Geoducks continue to learn, grow and meld together as a unit under first-year head coach
Dave Morris. The roster includes only one senior, a trio of juniors and 17 sophomore and freshmen combined. Through two counting contest the Geoducks have allowed only two goals, though they have scored only one. Evergreen opponents have taken 32 shots, 12 on goal, while the Geoducks have taken 24 shots and put 10 on frame. Standouts on the Evergreen defense include freshman goalkeeper
Rachel McClure with a 0.90 goals against average, and the back four of sophomores
Lexi Asher,
Lexi Leohner and
Melyssa Nocis and freshman
Mady Dillman. Senior midfielder
Haleigh Ryneski has been outstanding in supporting the defense and getting the ball into the attacking third of the field. Sophomore midfielder
Delaney Rice has the team's lone goal, and junior forward
Hunter Thomson Terrel leads the way with seven shots.
EVERGREEN 1, PACIFIC 1 (2 OT): Delaney Rice gave the Geoducks the lead in the 39th minute, Pacific tied the game in the 64th minute, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes in the Olympia heat. Evergreen owned a 15-9 advantage in shots.
LINFIELD 1, EVERGREEN 0: The visiting Wildcats scored in the 75th minute and then held on as the Geoducks pushed forward for the tying goal.
Hunter Thomson Terrel's long shot attempt in the final seconds was tipped over the bar by the Linfield goalkeeper and the final horn sounded a second later.
