Geoducks Head South Looking for Good Results

COMING UP: Needing points to keep their postseason hopes alive, Evergreen (2-9-0 overall, 1-5-0 CCC) takes a long road trip to Oregon for a pair of Cascade Collegiate Conference contests. The Geoducks face Oregon Tech (8-2-2, 5-1-1) in Klamath Falls at 2:30 p.m. Friday before facing off against Southern Oregon (7-2-2, 5-1-1) in Ashland at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

A BIG CHALLENGE FOR GEODUCKS: Evergreen is still in the hunt for one of eight conference postseason tournament berths, but positive results become even more critical with just six matches remaining on the schedule. The Geoducks have three points and are four behind College of Idaho, the current eighth-place squad with seven points. Goal scoring continues to be critical as the team has suffered eight shutouts among its nine losses. Of Evergreen's 10 goals, six came in an early season win at non-conference opponent Mills College. Madison Early and Maddie Lockwood remain tied for the team lead with three goals apiece and Delaney Rice is the team assist leader with three. Megan Breckenridge has a 2.43 goals against average while playing two-thirds of the time in goal.

ABOUT OREGON TECH: The Owls, who have won four straight, have continued to rise in the conference standings and are tied for third place, just one point out of first place. They have held their home field advantage well with four wins and two ties in six matches. Oregon Tech has scored 31 goals this season, led by Haley Janky with eight, while allowing just eight to their opponents. Jenna Stiehr has an impressive 0.66 goals against average.

ABOUT SOUTHERN OREGON: The Raiders match Oregon Tech in the standing with 16 points from their 5-1-1 mark and they are unbeaten at home with four wins and one tie in six contests. SOU has scored 22 goals and allowed just seven. Misty Martinez leads the team with six goals and Kailey Lemon has an impressive 0.49 goals against average.

LAST WEEK: In their only match of the week, the Geoducks dropped a 3-0 decision to the visiting Eastern Oregon Mountaineers.
