COMING UP: Evergreen (2-8-0 overall, 1-4-0 CCC) will face a difficult challenge on Sunday afternoon when it hosts the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers (8-1-1, 4-1-1) in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match at Geoduck Pitch.

ABOUT THE GEODUCKS: Of Evergreen's eight losses, seven have come by shutout, so finding the back of the net is a must for the Geoducks as they host the team currently tied for first place in the conference standings on Sunday. Evergreen has scored eight of its 10 goals this season in its two wins and the other two goals came in a 3-2 overtime loss to Saint Martin's. The scoring offense is pretty much limited to four players -
Madison Early,
Delaney Rice,
Maddie Lockwood and
Ana Vigil. That foursome have accounted for all 10 goals and seven of the team's eight assists (defender
Taylor Birdsall has the other), so getting more players in the mix in that regard would be a benefit. Early, a sophomore forward, leads the way with eight points from three goals and two assists, and with an average of 4.1 shots per game she ranks third among conference players. Rice, a junior forward, has two goals and a team-high three assists to her account, followed by Lockwood with six points from three goals. Both Rice and Lockwood are tied for eighth in the conference with an average of 2.8 shots per game. Finally, Vigil has two goals and one assist for five points. Defensively, the Geoducks have allowed 22 total goals. Junior goalkeeper
Megan Breckenridge has played about 65 percent of the minutes in goal and has a 2.34 goals against average while freshman
Daphne Hobbs has compiled a 1.93 goals against average. The shot differential between Evergreen and its opponents is closer than it has been in recent seasons with the Geoducks taking 127 shots compared to 159 for their competition.
ABOUT EASTERN OREGON: The defending conference and tournament champion Mountaineers are having another outstanding season under second-year head coach Jacob Plocher. With 13 points from a 4-1-1 record, the Mountaineers are tied with Carroll College for first place in the conference standings. Entering its Friday afternoon match at Northwest University, Eastern Oregon has a four-match winning streak and has outscored its competition this season, 23-11. Taylor Boyer is the team's scoring leader with 16 points from six goals and four assists, and she ranks second in the circuit with 46 total shots. MacKinley Gregus is tied with Boyer for the goal-scoring lead with six, and the two are tied for third among conference players in that category. Veteran goalkeeper Cyndi Cottrell has posted four shutouts and has a 1.03 goals against average.
LAST WEEK: The Geoducks found the going difficult against a hot Northwest University team, falling by a 6-0 score last Saturday afternoon in Kirkland.
