Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Evergreen and Oregon Tech tallied the same number of field goals and three-point baskets, but the visiting Owls converted 16 more free throws Friday night in beating the Geoducks, 88-72, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball game played at Danny Miles Court.
The Owls (10-4 overall, 2-1 CCC) went to the foul line 32 times and hit 28 of them compared to Evergreen (4-7, 0-3) finishing 12-for-14 on its charity tosses. That made the difference as most of the other statistics were nearly even.
The Geoducks shot 27-for-52 overall (51.9 percent) and 6-for-18 from beyond the three-point line, while Oregon Tech was 27-for-49 (55.1 percent) and also 6-for-18 from long range. Rebounds were close, Oregon Tech finishing with 28 and Evergreen with 24.
The Owls and Geoducks exchanged baskets in the first 90 seconds of the contest before the hosts scored 10 unanswered points to open up a lead it would not lose. Oregon Tech led 51-33 at the half and by as much as 20 early in the final period before Evergreen got within 10 points. The difference got not smaller, however, as the Owls pulled away for the win.
Elijah Fuller scored 19 points,
Malik Redmond added 18 and
Brandon Kohler tallied 13 to lead the Geoducks, who also got nine rebounds and eight points from
Dalton Groenewold.
Seth Erickson made all six of Oregon Tech's three-point baskets in nine attempts to finish with a game-high 20 points, while Tyler Hieb finished 10-for-11 at the foul line in scoring 14 points.Â
Evergreen returns to action at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow when it plays the No. 13-ranked Southern Oregon Raiders in Ashland.
