Box Score SPRINGFIELD - Evergreen nearly matched host Northwest Christian in total shots, but the Beacons were able find the back of the net twice in taking a 2-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory Saturday night at Les Schwab Sports Park.
The Geoducks (1-6-0 overall, 0-2-0 CCC) finished the match with 16 shots, including five on goal, but Northwest Christian (2-4-0, 1-1-0) showed a higher degree of accuracy and that paid off in picking up the win. The Beacons put 12 of their 17 shots on goal, getting two past Evergreen goalkeeper
Megan Breckenridge and forcing her to make nine saves. Evergreen also cleared a potential Beacons goal off the line.
NCU's Hannah Best scored a goal in each half, the first at 43:29 and the second at 72:43. Best ended up with seven total shots, including six on target.Â
Evergreen put on a closing flurry in an effort to make up its deficit, forcing a pair of saves from NCU keeper Katie Hastings before
Delaney Rice hit the crossbar with about two minutes remaining.
Madison Early took six total shots and Rice had two of her four attempts saved by Hastings.
The Geoducks return to Cascade Conference play next week when they host Warner Pacific on Friday and Multnomah on Saturday. Both matched are scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. at Geoduck Pitch.
