Â
ABOUT THE GEODUCKS:Â Evergreen is seeking its first conference win of the season after dropping a pair of 2-0 road decisions to Corban and Northwest Christian last week. The Geoducks have scored eight goals this season, though all of them have come in two matches, and they have allowed 12. Junior forward
Delaney Rice leads the team with two goals and three assists and sophomore forward
Madison Early has two goals and one assist. The team's other four goals are split evenly between junior midfielders
Maddie Lockwood and
Ana Vigil. Junior
Megan Breckenridge and freshman
Daphne Hobbs have nearly identical numbers in goal this season, Breckenridge with a 1.99 goals against average and 19 saves and Hobbs with a 1.98 GAA and 22 saves.Â
Â
ABOUT WARNER PACIFIC:Â The Knights come to Olympia with a 2-5-0 record, including a 1-0-0 mark in the conference after a 5-1 win over Multnomah. Since starting the season with five straight losses in which they were outscored 20-2, the Knights have rolled up two wins while scoring 11 goals and allowing just one. Ashley Giesbers is picking up where she left off last season and leads the team with nine points on four goals and one assist. She is getting help in the scoring department from Tear'Sa Krieger and her three goals. Goalkeeper Alyssa Guthrie has a 3.23 goals against average.Â
Â
ABOUT MULTNOMAH:Â The Lions, who play at Northwest University on Friday afternoon, are feeling the growing pains of most first-year programs. They have allowed 12 goals and scored just two in their three losses. Desiree Arocha and Sabrina Araiza have scored the goals and Lexis Law has a 4.00 goals against average while playing all 270 minutes in goal for the Lions.
Â
CORBAN 2, EVERGREEN 0: Corban scored a goal in each half and kept Evergreen off the scoreboard in taking a 2-0 victory in the Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer opener for both teams played last Friday in Salem, Ore. The Geoducks got off nine total shots and put four of them on goal but could not find the back of the net.
Â
NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN 2, EVERGREEN 0: Evergreen nearly matched host Northwest Christian in total shots, but the Beacons came out on top by a 2-0 score last Saturday night at Les Schwab Sports Park in Springfield, Ore. The Geoducks finished the match with 16 shots, including five on goal, but Northwest Christian showed a higher degree of accuracy and that paid off in picking up the win. Evergreen put on a closing flurry in an effort to make up its deficit, forcing a pair of saves from NCU keeper Katie Hastings before
Delaney Rice hit the crossbar with about two minutes remaining.
Madison Early took six total shots and Rice had two of her four attempts saved by Hastings.
