Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon scored 14 consecutive points - seven points on each side of the halftime break - to separate from Evergreen on the way to an 86-68 Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory on Friday night inside Quinn Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (9-8 overall, 4-2 CCC) broke away from a 36-36 tie by scoring the final seven points of the first half over a two-minute period and getting the first seven in the opening 90 seconds of the final half. After falling behind 50-36, Evergreen (5-11, 1-7) never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way.Â
Elijah Fuller was 3-for-5 from beyond the three-point line on the way to a game-high 14 points for the Geoducks, who also got 13 points from
Dalton Groenewold, 11 from
Mana Niu and 10 from
Ryan Quigley. Fuller and Niu led the visitors with four rebounds apiece as Eastern Oregon held a 40-28 advantage in that category.
Evergreen shot 42.1 percent overall (24-for-57) and 40 percent from beyond the arc (8-for-20), compared to 55.2 percent shooting (37-for-67) for the Mountaineers, who were 9-for-25 from distance. Eastern Oregon shot just four free throws, making three of them.
Jordan May scored 22 of his game-high 24 points in the first half to lead Eastern Oregon, which also got 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds, including seven on the offensive end, from Jarek Schetzle.Â
The road gets even tougher for the Geoducks tomorrow night as they play the No. 1-ranked College of Idaho Coyotes in Caldwell, Idaho, with the game scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip (Mountain time).
