Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -
Ryan Quigley became the fifth player in Evergreen men's basketball history to score at least 1,000 points in his career, but his effort Saturday night wasn't nearly enough to prevent the host Warner Pacific Knights from defeating the Geoducks, 93-58, in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.
Quigley, a senior forward from Nine Mile Falls, Wash., entered the game needing four points to attain 1,000 and reached that standard on a shot from the key with about two minutes remaining in the opening half. He finishes his four-year career with 1,008 points, joining Nathan Menefee with 2,182 (2007-10), Trelton Spencer at 1,740 (1997-2001), Andre' Stewart with 1,262 (2000-02) and Mike Parker at 1,180 (2001-03) in the Geoducks' 1,000-Point Club.
In addition, Quigley finished the game with six rebounds, giving him 556 in his career, which puts him into second place on Evergreen's all-time list, trailing only Julio Feliciano's 569 (2007-10).Â
As he did the previous evening in the loss to Multnomah, senior forward
Malik Redmond led Evergreen (5-21, 1-17) in scoring with 18 points, while yet another senior forward,
Dalton Groenewold, recorded his second consecutive double-double and his sixth of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Combined with his 20 rebounds against Multnomah on Friday night, Groenewold's 36 rebounds is the highest two-game total in Evergreen history.
Collin Malcolm recorded a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Knights (15-13 overall, 7-11 CCC), who will advance to the conference postseason tournament as the number seven seed.
