Evergreen women's soccer is the final fall sport to start. The Geoducks will open the 2019 season on Friday at 11 a.m. on the Geoduck Pitch against Douglas College.
Evergreen is under the direction of Steve Schmidt. Schmidt has worked at Evergreen for over a decade and worked as an Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs for the past two years and will be stepping in as Interim Head Coach for the 2019 season.
The Geoducks will be looking to rebuild the foundation of the team with eight newcomers. Evergreen lost six starters from last season but added eight newcomers to the roster that will be competing for those starting positions.
The program did return their three starting central midfielders in Maddie Lockwood, Ana Vigil and Alyssa Nordman and with that is last year's leading goal scorer Madison Early.
Following Friday's match, the Geoduck will play a scrimmage on Monday and then face Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma on Friday, Aug. 24th. The next home match after Friday will be Friday, Sept. 6th against Minnesota Morris at 12:30 p.m.
