The Evergreen State College women's soccer team will see University of Minnesota-Morris on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Geoduck Pitch.
About the Geoducks: Evergreen opened the season strong defeating Douglas College 3-2 in double overtime. The Geoducks were the first to get on the scoreboard by Maddie Lockwood but the Royals came back with an answer. Douglas College took the lead in the second half but a goal by Madison Early around the 82nd minute tied the game. After a scoreless first overtime, in the 103rd minute, Alyssa Nordman scored the game-winning goal to give Evergreen the win. Head Coach Steve Schmidt picked up his first win. Evergreen then faced Pacific Lutheran on Aug. 24th and fell 0-2.
About Minnesota-Morris: The Cougars compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and a member of the NCAA Division III. Minnesota-Morris opened the season on Sept. 1st and fell to Augsburg Univ. 4-0. The Cougars last season finished 6-10-1 overall and competed in post-season play at the UMAC Tournament and missed out on advancing to the next round after penalty kicks.
What's Ahead: Evergreen will have one more non-conference match against Pacific University on Friday, Sept. 13th at 7 p.m. before opening Cascade Collegiate Conference play in Montana on Sept. 20-21.
