OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Jenna Glenzel (Sr., G) from The Evergreen State College has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference McDonald's Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network. The honor was announced by the CCC Office on Monday, Dec. 15. Glenzel provided the Geoducks with strong defensive efforts against the University of Puget Sound on Dec. 10 and against Pacific Lutheran University on Dec. 14.

Glenzel, from Eugene, Oregon, averaged 7.0 rebounds per game during the week, including 5.0 rebounds per contest on defense. In addition, Glenzel provided the Geoducks with 6.0 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per game. Glenzel leads Evergreen with 20 steals this season and ranks first in the CCC with 4.0 steals per game.

"After 18 months recovering from an ACL rebuild and a patella tear, Jenna put in a lot of work this season to come back," Evergreen Head Women's Basketball Coach Derrick Pringle said. "Jenna has pride in her game on defense and is very passionate about it. This award is well deserved."

Against Puget Sound, Glenzel earned three rebounds (two on defense) to go along with seven steals, and two assists. The seven steals tied Glenzel's career high while tying for fifth all-time at Evergreen in a single game. In Evergreen's game at Pacific Lutheran, Glenzel grabbed 11 rebounds (eight on defense), while claiming five steals and two blocked shots.

On offense against Puget Sound and PLU, Glenzel averaged 13.0 points per game. Glenzel registered 14 points versus Puget Sound and earned 12 points against Pacific Lutheran. For the season, Glenzel is averaging 13.6 points per game.

The Geoducks will return to conference action on Friday, Dec. 19 when they host the College of Idaho. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Costantino Recreation Center.
