Volleyball Faces Three CCC Teams

After splitting the matches this past week at home, The Evergreen State College volleyball team will play three Cascade Collegiate Conference matches on the road in three days. The Geoducks will face Walla Walla on Thursday Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., see Eastern Oregon on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. and face The College of Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. MST.

About The Geoducks: Evergreen opened CCC play 3-0 before falling to 11th-ranked Corban in five at home on Saturday. Opening weekend of CCC play, the Geoducks defeated Multnomah and Warner Pacific 3-0. Evergreen is led by Lily Stewart, who ranks fourth in the conference with a .354 hitting percentage. Zoe Shaw leads the conference in kills with 53 and Renita Gray is right behind with 49 kills. Sierra Wolff leads the conference in assists with 173. As a team, Evergreen ranks second in the conference with a  .259 hitting percentage.

About Walla Walla: The Wolves rank 10th in conference with a .035 hitting percentage. Walla Walla is led by Gabrielle Browning, who ranks 25th with a .105 hitting percentage.

Recent Results: Evergreen has won all 10 matches played against Walla Walla, including winning 3-0 in both matches last season.

About Eastern Oregon: The Mountaineers rank sixth overall in the conference with a .199 hitting percentage. EOU is led by Jet Taylor, who had a .349 hitting percentage to rank fifth in conference.

Recent Results: Evergreen is 0-12 overall against Eastern Oregon, including falling 0-3 on the road and 1-3 at home last season.

About The College of Idaho: The Yotes rank eighth in conference with a .104 hitting percentage. C of I is led by Jordyn Boswell, who is 20th overall in the conference with a .145 hitting percentage.

Recent Results: Evergreen is 0-13 overall against The College of Idaho, including falling 0-3 the last four matches.

Stewart, Wolff Honored By Conference: Lily Stewart and Sierra Wolff were both honored by the Cascade Collegiate Conference the week of Sept. 2-8 for their performance to open the conference season. Stewart was named Red Lion Attacker of the Week, while Wolff was named Red Lion Setter of the Week. Stewart, the 6-2 freshman outside hitter from Toppenish, Wash., had a great first two matches to open conference play. She helped her team go 2-0 on the road, winning both matches in three-straight sets. Against Multnomah, she recorded 14 kills on a .414 hitting percentage while also adding three blocks. Against Warner Pacific, she recorded 11 kills on the night and two block assists. She hit a .625 for the match. Wolff, a 5-10 sophomore setter from Caldwell, Idaho, helped her team open the conference season with a couple of three-set wins on the road. Against Multnomah, Wolff recorded a double-double with 31 assists and 12 digs. Against Warner Pacific, she had 34 assists.
