Brian Rakestraw was not only the first distance runner to compete all four years at The Evergreen State College, he was the program's first competitor to earn accolades at the national level when he placed eighth in the marathon at the 2010 NAIA Track & Field Championships in Marion, Indiana.
A three-time All-Cascade Collegiate Conference performer, Rakestraw recorded NAIA national meet qualifying times in the 10,000 meters and placed as high as third at the conference meet.
Rakestraw, who competed in both track & field and cross country at Evergreen, is the school record holder in the 3000 meters, 5000 meters, 10,000 meters and half marathon. He continues to compete, but has moved off of the track and onto trails, racing at 10K and 50K distances.
